     In 1872, San Diego desperately needs a railroad, but a Mexican General wants to use the railroad for his own purposes, and the Indians know it will destroy them. Brendan Gould must navigate between these two forces if he wants to fulfill his dream. If it weren’t for his father, he might have a chance to succeed. Brendan stands in his father's way.

     From the mansions of Nob Hill, San Francisco, to the slums of Five Corners, Manhattan, Brendan battles against the forces ranged against him and his efforts to bring the Texas and Pacific Railroad to San Diego.
